Cheqq on your phone
Use Cheqq in your phone's browser, install it to your Home Screen, and find your way around the phone layout.
Cheqq runs in your phone's browser with a layout made for one hand: a menu instead of a sidebar, the things you tap within reach of your thumb, and Back that puts away whatever you opened.
Install Cheqq to your Home Screen
Installed, Cheqq opens in its own window without the browser's bars, with its own icon, and starts on a new chat.
Open Cheqq in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Open Cheqq in Chrome, open the ⋮ menu, and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
On an iPhone, notifications from Cheqq need it installed this way first. Then turn on Push in Settings → Notifications — see Notifications.
Find your way around
The header has the Menu button on the left, and a new chat and your notifications on the right. Notifications open as a sheet from the bottom of the screen.
The menu slides in from the left with:
- Your workspace switcher.
- Wapps, Automations, Apps, Artifacts, Store, and Files.
- Take a tour of this page, which replays the tour for wherever you are.
- Recents — your conversations, which you can pin, rename, or delete.
- Your account menu at the foot, with Settings and Integrations, and a New chat button.
Chat
Chat works as it does on a desktop. The composer stays above the keyboard as you type, the share icon sits in the header, and tool details wrap to fit the screen instead of scrolling sideways.
Tap any picture, in a chat, a record or an automation's results, to see it full screen. Pinch or double-tap to look closer, and tap the close button to go back.
On a tablet
On an iPad or a large Android tablet, the Cheqq app keeps the menu open on the left, so your Wapps, automations and recent conversations are always one tap away. Chats, lists and settings read in a comfortable column, while workflows, boards and dashboards use the whole screen. Turn the tablet whichever way suits you.
Wapps
Wapps lists each Wapp as a row with what it has been doing lately. Filter by status from the menu beside the search; the header's icons open deleted Wapps, the Store, and New Wapp.
A Wapp opens on its first dashboard, or on Home while a business system's Getting started list is showing. On a phone:
- Its dashboards and collections sit in a strip across the top, dashboards first. Swipe it sideways; the button at its end counts what's out of sight and opens the full list, where you can also search, create, and reorder.
- A grid opens as a table. Choose Cards under Layout in the View menu to read it as cards instead; your phone remembers which you chose. A record opens on the fields that are filled in, with the empty ones folded behind Show N more fields.
- Adding a record is the round button in the bottom corner.
- The ask bar along the bottom — Ask about and the page you're on — opens the Wapp's chat full screen, with that page already written in.
- The header's More menu holds the Wapp's sections (Home, Collections, Skills, Instructions, Workflows), its members, and Settings.
See Manage a Wapp.
Automations
The workflow editor's header fits on one row: the way back, the name, the on/off switch, Run, and your notifications. Tap the name for everything else — runs, a dry run, settings, rename, share, duplicate, and delete. A run waiting on you shows Review or Waiting in the header and opens its page.
Steps can't be dragged around the canvas on a phone, so a stray swipe never moves one. Tap a step to open its settings as a sheet, and tap Add trigger on a new workflow to choose what starts it. See Workflows.
Artifacts
Pages, documents, decks, and designs fit the screen, and you can pinch to zoom a document. Swipe or flick sideways to turn a page, or tap the left or right third of the screen. Comment and Edit work by touch: tap an element, and the comment box or the Edit panel docks under the artifact while it stays in view. Chat and sharing open as sheets.
Presenting fills the screen with a close button. A deck turns sideways where the browser allows it; on an iPhone, turn the phone and the slide refits. See Artifacts.
Start a document
In Artifacts, tap + for Make something new, then New document. A blank document opens ready to type, with the keyboard up on its title. Choose Ask Cheqq to write one instead to describe it in a chat and have Cheqq write it.
Markdown and text files
A Markdown or text file's menu in Files has Save to Artifacts, to keep the file as it is with a link you can share, and Edit as document, to make an editable copy you can work on with others. Edit text still opens the file's own words for a quick change. A saved Markdown file reads as formatted text, with Make an editable copy at the top.
Edit a document
In the Cheqq app, a document you can edit has an Edit pencil at the top. Tap it to write in the document, with everyone else who has it open seeing your words as you type.
- Type
/for a heading, a bulleted, numbered or to-do list, a quote, a callout, a toggle, a divider, an image or an embed (a video, map, design or post from its link). Tick a to-do by tapping its box. - Type
@to mention someone or add a date. Tap a date to change it. - The bar above the keyboard has Bold, Italic, a to-do, a bulleted list, a heading, @, a picture (from your photos, your camera or your files), Undo, Redo and Done, which puts the keyboard away. Select words and it offers Comment too.
- Switch tabs from the button at the top that shows the tab you're in.
Your words save as you type, and the line under the page says Saved. If you lose signal, it says Offline — retrying: keep typing, and your words send when you're back online. Tap Back while words are still on their way and the screen says Saving… before it closes; if they still haven't gone after a few seconds, choose Wait or Leave. If you leave, or the app closes, before they're saved, they stay on your phone and the next time you open the document it offers to copy them. Wait for Saved before closing the app.
Some things are for a computer for now:
- moving blocks around;
- adding or removing table rows and columns (you can type in a table's cells);
- Ask Cheqq in the page (use the document's chat instead);
- the document's look and page setup.
A very long document opens to read, with This one is long. Edit it on a computer. People who can only read or comment don't get the pencil. See Write documents together.
Apps
The App Builder opens on its chat, with Preview, Code, and Console as tabs beside it. The header's ⋯ menu holds the domain, who can visit, versions, and Unpublish. Editing text and styles in the preview docks the Edit panel under it, so the App keeps the full width. See Manage an App.
Back
On a phone, Back is how you put things away:
- Back closes what covers the page — the full-screen chat on a Wapp or workflow, a step's settings sheet, an artifact open over a page, the document editor, and the file viewer — and leaves you where you were.
- Tabs are steps of history. A Wapp's sections, the tabs in Settings and Integrations, and the App Builder's panes each add a step, so Back returns to the one you were just on. So do the conversations you switch between in a Wapp, workflow, or App chat.
- Lists keep their filters in Files, Artifacts, your notifications, and a workflow's runs when you come back to them.
- Back arrows always land somewhere. Opened from an email or a new tab, a page's back arrow takes you to its parent in Cheqq rather than out of it, and Back never returns to something you've deleted.
During onboarding, Back returns to the previous question rather than leaving the setup.
Tours
The guided tours fit a phone: each step points at something on screen — the menu, a Wapp's strip, its More menu and ask bar, a workflow's Run and agent buttons. Start one again any time from Take a tour of this page in the menu.
